Amazon is the largest retailer in the world. With more money than most countries, Amazon has the power to do whatever CEO Jeff Bezos demands. However, not all mega-corporations are bad. The company has many free services and discounted premium services like 50% off Prime for college students.
Wal-Mart is known for cheap prices.
Amazon is known for generosity.
People have power in 2017. Not retailers. Amazon overtook Wal-Mart’s income recently, with half of U.S Households subscribed to Prime. This was achieved with one mantra: Put the customer first.
Even though Amazon is a behemoth of economic power whose size rivals evil sci-fi companies, they appears to be ethical and customer focused. Or, companies are learning it’s more profitable to put the customer first. Amazon’s reach has grown to become a household name; someone you know, if not you, has interacted with the brand.
Side Note: here are three free books on Stoicism. You don’t need to offer your email for sacrifice.
Amazon’s methodology has built the company into a credit debt wet-dream. Even if you lived one thousand lives, you still couldn’t afford to buy everything.
By focusing on the customer, Amazon continues to grow its army of Evangelists and Smart-home enthusiasts. Their customers trust them because Amazon, has never let the customer down.
Their success is disgusting, earning over 300 billion dollars in 2016.
How much money is 300 billion dollars?
Think about 300 billion dollars using this time model:
- 1 million seconds = 11 and 1/2 days.
- 1 billion seconds = 31.7 years
Amazon’s income in time in 2016: 9,510 Years
It’s impossible to visualize how much money 300 billion dollars is. Humans have never counted, seen, touched, one million of anything with the exception of bacteria and other arguments if you Google around the web long enough.
Jeff Bezos preaches putting the customer before all else. He understands that relationships are more important than extracting every dollar from your customer like an Italian gangster giving the local bakery a shakedown.

Our vision is to be the earth’s most customer-centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online.
– Jeff Bezos
