Joe Rogan is a comedian, podcast host, and UFC commentator. On Episode #2240 of the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan interviewed Roger Avary & Quentin Tarantino to promote the second season of their Video Archives podcast, streaming on Patreon. Tarantino and Avery met at the Video Archives movie rental store in the early 1980’s.
At roughly the 46:24 mark(above), Quentin talks about his “Quentin Detest Fest”, That he would do every once in awhile when his life was feeling out of order, or unfulfilling. He hasn’t done in a long time–thankfully.

In a Quentin Detest Fest, Tarantino would stay up all night long, and review everything he was fucking up in his life, and everything he wasn’t doing, without giving in or tolerating any excuses. He would write all these things he detested about his life on paper, like on a big sketchbook.
He would “nail” everything he was doing wrong and what he wasn’t doing right. Then, he’d spend the last two hours of his Detest Fest Figuring out how he could change it.
Self-analysis
Most people do not analyze their problems, so they do not understand them, so they do not fix them, and they die with the problems they had in their teenage years in old age, or younger.
People often die young because they did not address the problems of their childhood or teenage years.
Those who analyze their problems will often make excuses for why their problems are difficult to solve, or cannot be solved; this must be avoided; the only thing that exists is your objective and finding the path to get there.

You must overcome the challenge to get beyond the wall.
Sometimes you can climb the wall, rarely can you walk around it to bypass it, often you must smash the wall with a sledgehammer you build yourself.
You often have to build the solution to your problem.

If your life path is not going the way you want it to go, you must analyze it. You can have your own detest fest. And you may need it.
Everyone needs a detest fest at least once in their life.
Consider conducting your own Detest Fest at an interval that empowers you to live the way you believe will bring you the greatest source of fulfillment.
