Murray’s classic hair dressing(pomade)

Getting pomade off your hands can be difficult.

Pomade is an excellent men’s hair product that has been around for hundreds of years. The first editions of pomade date back to Europe around the 18th century, where pomade was created from animal products for hair styling.

Today pomade is still as popular as ever, but no longer uses animal fat as the main ingredient.

Pomade usually comes in two main variants: oil-based or water-based. Water-based pomade is easier to get off your hands and hair than oil-based but with less of a hold. Water-based pomade can wash out in the shower with ease.

Pomade Recommendations:

  • Water-based: Shiner Gold Pomade
  • Oil-based: REUZEL Pink Grease Pomade

Oil-based pomade has an  hold that will not wash out well after a shower, requires something like dish soap to remove, and can take multiple rounds of shampooing, or soaping your head to get the pomade out.

It’s almost impossible to get oil based pomade off your hands with regular soap. Even water based pomade can be difficult to get off your hands with regular soap. This is bad as you can get greasy pomade on tools, technology like keyboards or mice, or in your food as it sticks to your hands.

How to get pomade off your hands

To get pomade off your hands, you need textured grit in soap to remove it. That’s where Pumice soap comes in.

Pumice soap, which is most associated with the brand GOJO in the construction space. Bright orange bottles. Pumice soap has pumice in it, which is a type of volcanic rock that is useful for exfoliation, which removes the grease from pomade from your hands.

We recommend GOJO Cherry because it’s a small bottle with a mild, pleasant cherry smell that takes much less space on the counter than the industrial gallon-sized orange GOJO jug.

To remove pomade residue from your hands completely, wash your hands with GOJO Cherry, then wash your hands with regular soap, then dry. Make sure to scrub your hands vigorously, so you don’t have to go through the pumice soap/standard soap cycle again.

You can use pumice soap to get other greasy residues off your hands as well like Tanning lotion, CBD muscle rub, or other products.
